About Mr. Doway
With a strong background in Hospitality, Organizational Effectiveness, Communications and Tourism, Joseph has dedicated his career to elevating tourism across varied sectors of the industry. He began his career in 1976 at the world known La Samana Hotel, (St. Martin) as a Front Desk Supervisor and the La Grande St.Martin Beach Hotel, responsible for Training and Staffing. He was promoted to Senior Management and the Assistant General Manager and served on the Executive of the St. Martin Hotel Association. His career took him to the La Belle Creole Conrad Hilton as Reservations Manager and later held the same position at the 600 rooms Mullet Bay Resort and Casino (St. Maarten). For the past seventeen years, he has provided services in numerous areas specializing in Business Plan Development and Originating Loans for businesses. He has coordinated and facilitated a number of workshops and seminars on Sustainable Tourism, Customer Service/Satisfaction, Sourcing Financing and Marketing. Joseph has written a number of articles pertaining to tourism has been a guest speaker at many forums and seminars and also provides advice to Government run tourism offices. He was nominated for two Gold Awards in 2009 for Leadership, Innovation and Customer Service Awareness by B.I.D., Spain. Joseph is presently pursuing his Doctorate in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Mr. Doway prepared a number of Business Plans for new developments in the Bahamas and the Caribbean. These projects included new hotels on Exuma, Cat Island and Abaco. He speaks fluent English and French. His work on Dominica included providing Consultancy to the Ministry of Tourism, The Discover Dominica Authority and the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association.
